![]() ![]() So I believe the answer is: suction cups. The support team is encouraging me to print these parts with supports to eliminate the issue, but I’m trying to avoid that so I don’t have to post process the support marks. ![]() Print Note: Use PreForm version 3.6.1 or higher and firmware 1.7.3 or higher 3.1 Import File(s) Import or open the design file(s) by dragging them into PreForm or opening them using the File menu and locating them on your computer or network. As for the cup, you can solve this by placing a Ø2-3mm venting hole on the side, near the bottom. I rotated my rectangular parts 90 degrees to change the relation of the thicker sides to the peel direction, and my prints have been coming out fine. FORMLAS: 3D Printing Custom Trays ith Formlabs SLA 3D Printers 5 3. I told the support team about my new theory, and they agreed that could be my issue. I realized that was probably the issue I was having with my other parts too, even though PreForm still does not give me any warning for those files. Since I’d never seen this error, suction cups had never occurred to me. I opened up the previous version of the part I had printed before the software update, and sure enough, I got the “Cups Detected” message there too. If you see any mistakes feel free to comment and I (might) fix them. It’s based on notes I’ve taken over the years, and I thought I’d share it in case others find it helpful. After updating to PreForm 3.7.0, I tried printing a very similar version of the circular part from my original post, and this time got a “Cup Detected” warning. I’m lending my Form 1+ to a friend and put together this guide to help him get started. I’m currently waiting for a new optical window that Formlabs is sending to try, but I figured in the meantime I would bring this to the forum to see if anyone has any other ideas! Worst case, I will just have to stick with the other resins.įollowing up on my progress with this in case anyone ever runs into a similar problem. I’ve done a few cupped parts on our later prototypes that didn’t require any vent holes and didn’t have any print artifacts. The flexibility of the film in Form 3 means that pressure won’t build up in cups and cause the artifacts that are visible on Form 2. The resin is not particularly old, the lot number is 20200103JW. Cupping is quite a bit better on the Form 3. form file to Formlabs, tested with 2 different resin tanks (1 was brand new), and at the support team’s request I printed the optics test and cleaned the optical window and the main mirror. I submitted a support ticket and provided diagnostic logs and my. These parts print without a problem using Color Kit resin. I tried printing the same part in all 4 corners of the build platform on one print to see if the results differed based on location, and I had the issue on the same area of the part each time (this is shown in a couple of the pictures). The PreForm Print Settings Editor allows you to tailor print performance with Formlabs materials and certified third-party materials by customizing a range of print settings that control exposure, layer height, resolution, scaling, heating, wiping, and interlayer motion. I’m including pictures of a couple of the prints. I am printing directly on the build platform, and after a thin layer of normal printing a void occurs, then gradually fills in as the layers go on. We don't want to shell out for a mid-tier gaming laptop (the acer) if we could get by with older CPU but adding RAM.I’ve been having some odd print quality issues with Grey V4 resin, I wanted to see if anyone here has seen something similar or has any ideas for resolving it. We've tested the program on a few computers (Lenovo i3-8130uCPU/6GB, ASUS i5-5200u /8GB, Acer i7-9750/8GB) and have found that they progressively get better times on checking and uploading. Formlabs says the program requirements are only 4GB RAM and Win7+, but I'm assuming that's for the minimum, not necessarily for mid-level performance. (even for files it's already checked before), and uploading the file to the printer from the computer takes an eternity (we've had freezing and 15m+ wait times). We use a Formlabs Form2 in our lab, and have noticed that it consistently takes 5m+ for PreForm to check the model over for supports etc. Non-reddit communities are listed in our getting started guide We welcome community contributions to this wiki!
